The project
Modern Villa in Caspian Sea
The design concept revolves around creating a dialogue between architecture and nature. Large glass facades frame the Caspian Sea views, while cantilevered volumes create shaded outdoor spaces that respond to the humid climate.
Located on a sloping terrain with panoramic sea views, the site presented both opportunities and challenges. The design had to respect the natural topography while maximizing the breathtaking views of the Caspian Sea and surrounding forests.
Design approach
Light, material and movement.
The main challenges included: managing the high humidity levels typical of the region, ensuring structural stability on the sloping site, and creating a design that feels both contemporary and contextually appropriate for northern Iran's architectural heritage.
We implemented several innovative solutions: elevated foundation system for moisture control, deep overhangs and cross-ventilation strategies for passive cooling, use of local materials like wood and stone to blend with the environment, and strategic orientation to capture prevailing breezes.
Materials
Materiality and texture.
Reinforced concrete structure, local timber cladding, natural stone flooring, triple-glazed windows, insulated roof system, and sustainable bamboo elements for interior finishes.
