Material and Atmosphere

Material is more than a surface. Its texture, weight, temperature and relationship with light influence how a space is experienced.

Material and Atmosphere

Materials influence architecture through more than appearance. They define touch, sound, temperature, reflection and the way light moves through a space.

Material is part of the experience

Stone, timber, concrete, metal and glass each have their own physical character. The choice between them changes how a room feels and how it is perceived over time.

We consider material selection together with light, proportion and construction rather than treating it as a final decorative decision.

Less, but more deliberate

Limiting the number of materials can often create a stronger and more coherent architectural language. The objective is not variety for its own sake, but clarity.

Material becomes architecture when its physical qualities support the idea of the space.
